We are looking to fill a Director, CoreCivic University role at our Nashville office to oversee the program management of CoreCivic University and its' individual colleges by partnering with the leadership of CoreCivic University. The Director leads the content and curriculum development, faculty development and evaluation of effectiveness and manages multiple projects to include financial oversight and resource allocation with a focus on CoreCivic University's strategies, commitments and goals. This includes managing full-scale project plans, learning and development roadmaps and financial models; performs quality audits, and provides associated communications. In conjunction with CoreCivic University leadership the Director recommends, designs, develops, delivers and manages CoreCivic University programs at various locations to include classroom and blended learning sessions. 

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Researches plans, organizes and facilitates CoreCivic University programs, seminars, and conferences to support team, individual, management, and functional development activities.  Monitors and reports on effectiveness of programs. 

Coordinates and conducts need analyses with CoreCivic senior management to identify and define current and future learning and development needs; formulates and develops plans, procedures and programs to meet specific needs and requests.

Conducts and manages large scale instructional design of modules and programs to support overall CoreCivic University curricula. Manages subject matter experts and external instructional designers throughout the process.

Designs, plans and implements internal faculty development programs; aligns training with CoreCivic University's strategic objectives, commitments and goals. Maintains current knowledge for instructor trends, best practices and standards. Monitors and evaluates development program for effectiveness.

Recommends approval of academic and job related courses to develop and maximize potential of employees.

Designs Instructor Led Training (ILT), e-Learning, and blended material for new programs; reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs; recommends appropriate revisions in a cost-effective manner and within budget limits.

Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances comprehension and retention of knowledge.

Designs and administers learning and development measurement plans, including surveys and focus groups.  Applies tested instructional design theories, practice and methods. 

Maintains records of all learning and development programs/participants with related personnel information; provides special reports when required.

Domestic U.S. travel is required.



Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or an acceptable related field is required. Five years of progressive experience in learning and development, organizational development or a related field. Must include some experience in program design and program management. Additional related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year–for-year basis up to two years.


Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required. Must have demonstrated knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models, lesson and curriculum planning skills. Project Management experience is required.


Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development software is preferred. Experience with IBM, Cornerstone and/or Pathlore LMS systems and Articulate Storyline 2 and/or Lectora software preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. A valid driver's license is required.
