The Security Threat Group (STG) Officer identifies and monitors offender groups and members who pose a potential threat to staff, inmates, the facility or the community. Gathers intelligence, maintains documentation and disseminates required intelligence information to appropriate partner or law enforcement agencies.
High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required. Two years of experience in a criminal justice field is required. One year of corrections experience, including the care and custody of inmates/offenders is required. Additional education in criminal justice or a related field will be substituted for the required experience, an Associate's degree will be substituted for six months of the required experience or a Bachelor's degree will be substituted for one year of the required experience. No substitution for the required corrections experience.
Prior experience with investigative processes and interviewing techniques is preferred. Specific contracts may require completing training, maintaining certification and the ability to carry firearms or chemical agents. Experience with video/audio surveillance equipment preferred. Demonstrate knowledge of general correctional rules and regulations. Experience in Microsoft Office or other similar software applications is preferred. A valid driver's license is required.
